A failure to communicate between senior managers and their staff is responsible for poor levels of motivation in businesses.
A report by European Leaders, a people development company, found that more than two-thirds (68%) say they’ve failed to grasp their company’s vision. Almost two-thirds (64%) said they were insufficiently motivated to give their best at work. Only one-third (36%) said they worked at their full potential and less than a-fifth (18%) regarded their business as a good organisation. Many employees felt their skills were undervalued. More than one in 10 (15%) said they had hobbies that could be put to better use, for example.
Ashley Ward, director of European Leaders, says: ‘The fact that people want to be more involved in their work and their company shows they think about their employer’s business and care about how they’re managed.’
