A new co-working space in Central London is especially keen to attract the attention of PAs. Recently opened in Bloomsbury, Central Working is a new space designed for self-employed workers who want an alternative to being based at home. With a coffee bar, cake stand and working modules around a central table tennis table, its bright yet business-like atmosphere is the brainchild of co-founder James Layfield, formerly an MD at Virgin.

Layfield, who has based the concept on a Virgin Atlantic upper class lounge, is particularly keen to attract interest from PAs, both to use it themselves as members and to recommend it to their companies.

‘They are the gateway to many businesses,’ he says, adding that he’d just shown around a group of PAs from a nearby firm. He hopes that the meeting rooms – fully equipped and with engaging names such as ‘Love’ and ‘Old Skool’ – will be of particular interest. ‘They are easy to book,’ he says. ‘Just click on our website to see when they’re available and make the booking online. You don’t even have to make a phone call.’ He’s also enthusiastic about welcoming the growing number of self-employed ‘portfolio PAs’ as members. ‘This would be a great place for them to network and build their client base.’

Now he’s asking for your help. ‘I really want to know what we can do to encourage PAs to work with us,’ he says. If you’ve got any ideas, drop by or tweet them @centralworking. Visit their site
